Hi guys,

what is relevance of purchasing group in SAP and how it is related to release strategy ? Does purchasing group has any link with finance module in SAP ?

Purchasing group has its own definition and if release strategy defined with values of release group/s- then it will have an impact during releasing of purchasing document/s. Again if needed by business also PG link to FI

In an organization, Purchasing team plays a pivotal role and they are responsible for all procurement related activities. Having said that, they are responsible for high value purchase materials also. Depending upon the Business requirement, management will set certain limit beyond which, if the PO value exceeds, with the Release strategy functionallity, it will go to next level and as I said already, this is purely to control the inventory value.
