Promo BOM components - Best Practice

Hi Gurus,

My client's requirement is that they come up with promos at regular interval.

How to map the additional components used for promo in SAP?

Is it advisable to change the BOM to accomodate the components or can we go and change/add components in production order itself?

Well, at this moment we have decided to go for changing the components in production order and do not change the BOM.

Is this best practice?

Do we have any alternate other than these two options?

Cheers,

Himanshu

Hi Himanshu,

Yes,

Its better way to complete the requriement. As other collegues said you follow the suggested practice for your requirement.

For temprory base changes, you can used to add component at production order level (CO02) &

For long period/permanent changes of component, you must used CS02.

Thank you all for your comments,

Yeah, the change in component/quantity is not fix. The requirement is only for one time production order (at the max 2-3 production orders). But the BOM remains same for further production orders.

The problem with alternative BOM is that everytime there is a promo, components for the alternative BOM will change. Like for one promo we are giving something free, the next promo could be with a different packaging material, etc.

I guess changing components in production order is more appopriate.

I just wanted to have views from expert. Thank you for input.

This has cleared my doubt. My question has been answered.

Cheers,

Himanshu

Dear,

Then best way is to go for Production order. As you got the answer then close the thread.

Dear Himanshu Saxena,

1.As one of the expert has told if the change is temporary and if it's going to be only for few production

order's then you can include it in the production order itself.

2. If the change is going to exist for a long time then you can make it in the BOM so that the workload is

getting reduced, because each time you have to include the same in the individual production order.

If the changes are made directly in the BOM means, then tese materials also will be considered during the

next MRP for the Finished product.

3.If you are including only in the production order means then you have to plan these materials separately.

4.Since you have mentioned its going to occur at regular interval,if the changes are going to exist for more

time means then you can add it in the BOM.

Please check & revert back.

Dear,

If changing component is not fix or it changes frequently then best way you should add it in component overview of production order CO02.

If then component change is permanent then use BOM CS02.

Or you can create the alternative BOM also.
