Problem Installing SAP 4.7

Former Member

Dear All

I am trying to install SAP 4.7 on my personal system.

My Hardware Config is:

160 GB Hard disk

C: 10 GB

😧 150 GB (With 80 GB Free Space)

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ 2.0 GHz

Operating System:Windows 2000 Advance Server SP4

RAM: 1 GB

I have installed Oracle 9 and SAP Central Instance successfully.

But when I try to install SAP Database Instance, during the installation process both the drive get corrupted and system becomes unstable (fatal error). Operating system also gets corrupted. So I have to format C: and do all the process again. This has happened 4 times now.

I think I am missing any basic thing which is required before installation. If anybody knows about this problem please provide me the solution.

Thanks & Regards

I am using JAVA 2 SDK Standard Edition v1.3.1_03

Hi,

Make sure you are following steps properly while installation of 4.7 EE.

I would advise try with o/s windows 2003 with sp2

If it is a stand alone server(training) you need to add a loopback adaptor and give an Ip address

Once the o/s is installed, make sure the environment variables are set properly.

Java 1.4.2_06 is desirable

Install Oracle 9i as per the Installation guide.

Once all of this is done, use the SAPInst tool to install Central Instance and then DB Instance

If you get an error, please check the following.

Check you R/3 dump for any corruption

Check your o/s files to see if any dll or exe files are missing

check whether your environmental variable is set accordingly

Check your RDBMS cds for any corruption

Please check relevant logs for more information.

Hope this information will help

Hi

Thanks a lot for providing installation guide but my problem is still as it is. My C drive and OS gets corrupted while installing database instance. Has it anything to do with virtual memory? I have 1 GB RAM what should be the virtual memory for C and D Drive?

Thanks

Hello,

as u specified you have enough space in HD and enough RAM also,

Only thing i guess is ur hd is corrupted ,,some bad sector is there so first of all scandisk u r entier harddisk and fix the bad sector and again try to install it....

There is not relation between SAP installation steps and u r OS corupted.....
