Prior year Depreciation not calculated

Hello SAP Experts

I have this situation where the Capitalize date is December 2010 and the First Acquisition date is July 2011. The first months planned Depreciation was posted already as well at July 2011. And now itu2019s calculating for current year only for 2011. Itu2019s not calculating the prior year December of 2010. But itu2019s calculating for the whole 12 month by doubling the amount. But we need the system to calculate for the whole 13 months December 2010 to December 2011. Is there anything we can do besides doing a manual Depreciation through ABMA? The posting rule is set to Smoothing and not sure if we can do something to catch up the prior year Depreciation. Any suggestion will be helpful.

Hi,

Iin depreciation Key(AFAMA) we have the option "dep to the day" mark this then it is calculating . but its shows the error. do one thing Create a new depreciation key > replace the existing depreciation key with the new one on the respective fixed asset > then repeat depreciation run.

For activating u2018Dep. To the day, in this case, copy the existing depreciation key for e.g. ZXXX to a new one YXXX and activate the u2018Dep. To the dayu2019 indicator > then create a new asset no. and assign the new depreciation key YXXX (Dep. to day activated) > next transfer the balance of old asset with depreciation ZXXX to this new asset.

Aadi thanks for your response. That is one option although it's a long process and might be messy too. Can we change the posting rule from Smoothing to Catch up? Do you think that might calculate the Prior year Dep?
