You may be able to leverage the validation app to manage your requirement. However, it really depends on the context you will be running the validation, i.e. is this for posting journal entries, or is this oriented to other applications that integrate with Finance?
I am not sure if your query to related Inventory or Financial posting, how if this is for inventory kindly make use of the below extensibility option to place a check on the posting date field.
