Hi Gurus,
My client has 3 diff plants. Raw material is imported in bulk for all plants by centralized purchasing unit. During placing of PO what qty has to go to which plant is not decided. After arrival of material depending on the available space at each plant the material is distributed.
How to place PO without Plant and Later distribute?
Regards,
Rohan
Hi Rohan,
I checked that option with SAP and their answer was : you may not enter a PO without a plant !
You may bypass this problem by GR to a specific plant always and create a transfer posting to another plant immediately.
If this is too much of a hassle to your customer - you may write a program that uses BAPIs for GR and then TP.
Hope this helps,
Isaac

Hi,
There is no way to enter a PO without a Plant numberneeds this to determine lots of other data (comp0any code, P org, Info record etc. etc.
You do need to try to mirror exactly what happens in "real life".
If the vehicle does actually turn up at one site with all of the delivery, then post the gr and raise a transport order for the despatch of the remainder to the other plants.
I would consider receiving all of the material into the plant and then handle the transfer separately, because there may not be enough time to raise the transport order before the truck arrives at the other plants, so there would be nothing to receive against. Possibly set up a couple of extra storage locations at the plant that represent the other plants and place the receipt into these storage locations until they are despatched.

hi,
If you are receiving it at the port then yes, create a plant for this (it is not really a dummy because the Plant at the Port represents that it is your stock at another site.
This reflects the real situation closely and is a good solution. (even though you will have to generate STOs but again this is actually reflecting what is happening).

Hi,
You don't have to own the storage area to use a Plant, it can be used for any area where stock is held, even temporarily like this.
A rented warehouse or storage area is still a Plant in SAP terms.
You really should raise the PO with this temporary plant number, you cannot have a PO without a Plant and it would be wrong to specify one of the three current plants.
