HI,

MTO - make to order like startegyu 20.

MTS - make to stock like stag=tegy 40,10,11, 30 etc.

In mTO procurmeent done after sales order come into stock requirement list.

Once sales oredr come then in mRP logic system automaticlly generate the the planned oredr for that sales oredr.

But in MTS you are gong to stock the ireespective of sales order on the assumption of forcast and historical data .

There are certain startegy 52 , 63 you can combine the MTS and MTO as per requirement of client.

Hi Raj,

In SAP , you can use MTO an MTS both.

See only catch is that for a Material you can define only 1 Planning Strategy in the material master it can take only 1 Strategy.( You can create Strategy groups but not sure on the end to end usage)

If you assign Planning Strategy 20 for material :

Then only with a SO you can trigger planning , procurement and Production and Delivery.

If you assign Planning Strategy 10 for material:

Then you irespective of SO, you have to maintian PIR in MD61 -> MRP-> procurement and production and then create Delivery against SO.

If you assing Planning Strategy 30 then:

the existing stock in the system are not cosiderd as available stock same as Strategy 10

If you assign Planning Strategy 40 then:

You have to maintain PIR in MD61, but once SO for that material if created then PIR is consumed by SO. Other point to note is you can tirgger GR or take material into stock only if SO is created.

Hope this help.

Reward if useful.

Thx,

Hi

U can use here strategy group concept. One main strategy and seven other substrategies.

In sales order main strategy(Req type) will be proposed. If you want to use any other strategy for the particular order u can change the req type in Sales order.

You can not. as MTO Strategies do not use PIRs unlike MTS wherein 10,11,40 are used.

Hi,

Strategies 40,10 etc are Make to stock scenarios. We give the requirement thorugh md61 with the corresponding requirement type & then when mrp is run, planned orders are created.

Where as in make to order, planned orders are created for the quantity mentioned in the sale order.

If you want to stock the HALB material below the fert level, Then you can use Strategy 50.Planning w/o final assembly.

If FERT is set with this strategy, then you will get a planned order of "VP" type, non-convertible into production order, till you get a sale order.

Whereas you can convert the planned orders of the dependent material into prod order & maintain s stock & then consume when you receive a sale order for the FERT.

Hi Raj,

In MTO if you will create a sales order. and when you run the MRP system will generate requirements against sales order.

In 40,30,10 the requiremetns are created by PIRs not by sales order.

So you cannot use it
