Hi All
I am attempting to sort out the nightmare that is 7000+ work schedules in our organisation and plan to use the p0007-empct field to record part time employees. From what I can see we should be able to condense the work schedules into a few standard working hours e.g. inside/outside London and control the part time/compressed hours with a combination of the empct field and substitution records. However I have been told that it is not advisable to use this field but have not been given any justification as to why.
Is anyone aware of any restrictions/problems with this field that would hamper it's use.
Thanks in advance.
If you are planning to implement more then 7000+ Work Schedules, then you may want to seperate out the PSA groupings so that you can reduce the WS rules in the drop down list in IT0007.
Another alternative is if you have fixed schedules (You know what dats all employees work) then you can create generic work schedules (lets say 8 hrs per day) and then use the EMPCT to adjust individual working hours.
This means, you need to create following WS R's
DWS =0800 (8 hrs per day)
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
0800, 0800, 0800, 0800, 0800, FREE, FREE
0800, 0800, 0800, 0800, FREE, FREE, 0800
0800, 0800, 0800, FREE, FREE, 0800, 0800
0800, 0800, FREE, FREE, 0800, 0800, 0800
0800, FREE, FREE, 0800, 0800, 0800, 0800
FREE, FREE, 0800, 0800, 0800, 0800, 0800
Similarly, you need for Monday and Wednesday FREE days and then Monday and Thursday FREE day and so on and so forth...
Basically, you need to capture all possibilities (which will be less then 7000+)
You should see:
7 day work week = total 01 combinations
6 day work week = total 07 combinations
5 day work week = total 21 combinations
4 day work week = total 35 combinations
3 day work week = total 35 combinations
2 day work week = total 21 combinations
1 day work week = total 07 combinations
Total WSR's 127
Based on these 127 WSR's you can put the empct and then determine how your employees work...
This assumption works true if your employees work equal number of hours per day in a given week...
If the employees work different number of hours per day in a given week, then you will need to come up with individual WSR's.
Hope this helps...
