Page breaks and long text in smartforms

Hi all!

I faced a problem while working with smartforms: I needed to place a long text (more than 255 chars) into a cell. I combined several parts into a long one but now I can not get rid of a page break. When the text is less or equal 255 chars, no page break is present no matter how many pages are printed. However, when the length is more than 255, page breaks occurs in spite of the fact that the data is displayed in a proper way in both cases.

Thank you.

Is it possible for you to visualize the issue (screenprints)? What is a long text? SO10? Or just a lot of (hardcoded) text in a cell? It is a bit unclear to me.

I'm also confused by the question. Please share more specific information about the element definition and content.

What is the issu, as it is not easy to understand what is written, we just see a long text.

What would you expect ?

I do not need the page break which occurs on the first page. There is some space below to keep on printing the table. In spite of this fact, the table is transfered to the next page. I need continues flow of printing but I have a page break.

It looks like completely logical. What you say is that Smart Forms don't calculate enough precisely the height of text maybe? It may be due to the font you use (depends if it's True Type, etc.) Anyway, Smart Forms is an old technology which has many flaws, I'm not sure you can render exactly as you wish.

Thank you. I have corrected a similar smartform and got what I had needed.

Please close the question (eventually add a feedback, it can be useful to future visitors looking for an answer).

Ok Sandra, but unfortunately, for the moment, there is no answer leading to a solution neither for me nor for the future visitors. I changed the font - it's all the same. Just to clear the situation up: I need to change 2 smartform in such a way, that they can display a text longer than 255 chars. The both dislpay now but page breaks appears. In one smartform I succedded, in the second one not.

Thank you, Frederic! You are wright! There was a checked check box in the table details!

What you describe looks like there is the option "Protected" somewhere in your table line.

Normally protected will not work with text without a specified size.
