P & ID tagging in equipment master

I want to have P & ID tagging in equipment master. There are possible fields like sort and TECH ID. but I also want to see possibility of creating a class and characteristic to maintain all related tags of an equipment. Kindly suggest

I have same scenario, I have chemical factory as a client my requirement is below

F-Location▶️Main Equipment▶️Sub Equipment▶️Tag No▶️Instrument(Material)

1-NAGP▶️Boiler▶️Feed Pump▶️B601▶️Pressure Transmitter.

How should I design please give me suggestion.

I want to treat pressure transmitter as material.

i have seen P&ID used in Tech field in one instance and other instance it was saved as characteristic value. Using in Tech ID may have benefits in reporting as field is available in the reporting layouts.

We have classes in our system in addition to using sort field.

Hi,

The Sort Field is the best spot for this.

I have in the past created a Class and Characteristic with multi input to put multiple Tag numbers in, but does make it harder to search by tag number.

That is why the Sort field is best and can easily be searched in. You just need to make sure it is unique. I have seen where a area code or project code is put in front of the tag to make it unique.
