Dear Experts,
The overhead cost planned in the project is directly moving to the RemOrdPlan value in the CRTD stage. This is not happening for the material added to the activity. Please see the screenshots attached. As far as I've read:
RemOrdPlan = Plan - (Actual + Commitment)
Assigned = Actual + Committed + RemOrdPlan
Considering this, at CRTD stage all planned cost should be equal to RemOrdPlan. But that's not the case. What am I missing in my understanding?

In SAP note 178837 I read that 'The plan values of assigned networks are not taken into account for valuated project stock.' as an exception to calculating Residual Order Plan. But the overhead costs are still moved to the assigned value. Is this because of the associated cost center in the costing sheet? Does that mean I am planning costs in the project in the wrong way? Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't tested this but - Let's say you are using costing variant costing variant PS02 for planned costs and PS03 for actual. Now in OPL1 for valuation variant of PS02, remove current costing sheet because this will be considered in calculation of material overheads. Whereas PS03 should have costing sheet maintained in valuation variant.

Your reply was very helpful indeed, as it helped me to trace the origin of the costs and, if required, to remove the material overhead while planning. But my query was related to the material planned cost not moving to the assigned value. Since the project budget controls only the assigned value column and not the planned cost column, the budget is unable to control this material assignment to the activity. I found out that the problem is with the HANA server that I'm using right now. In this server the activities are not even visible under the WBS element detail screen.
Due to this the material costs are not getting assigned to the WBS element. I will be raising this issue to SAP after some time. Thank you.
