order type for a material

Hi,

1.Can some tell me how the order type of a material is asigned ???

2.What is the benifit/use of having order type ??

3.What are the parameters considerded for assiging a order type for a material ?

Hi,

Ans1. The Order type is decided based on the Production Scheduling Profile (maintained in WorkSch. View of Material Master) or through Sales Item Category (Maintained in Sales -2 View of Material Master)

Ans2. How you want to have the Manufacturing process/costing for your Materials is based on Order Types..

Examples: Normal production order, Rework Order, Speial Production Orders - Based on the customer specific scenarios)

Ans3. Based on the Customer Processes, teh parameters are defined.

Refer OPJH and OPL8 Transaction for underlying parameters which impact the production Process.

1.Order Type contains the information which are necessary for maintaining the Order the same order type is used in various areas like Production Order / Maintenance orders.

2.With One order type what all the master data u have created will get copied in production order
