Optional part nos in BOM

hello

My client want below requirement immediately

1) Optional part nos in Bom. In case of any one material not available (Due to shortage) for production the system can use optional material in the BOM to run the production.

is their any such facility available in the BOM?

2) will production order search the material availability in the storage location? if yes

it has to check only the few storage locations for material availability. Because the defective material of the same part no can also stored in some storage location. Hence Production order has to check only the storage location with good parts. what is the setting required for this.

Hi,

For your first question, use Alternative material group in BOM. IN the BOM create alternate material as a line item and give same alternative item group name.

Depends on strategy, Usage probability system will select the alternate material.

2. In the material master mrp4 view use Exclude str location from MRP run.

In this select defective str loc, so MRP will not consider that str location.

If you are having more materials in defective str loc , in SPRO> MRP>Planning

Input the str location & select Exclude from MRP.

Thanks for your immediate reply.

Our client does not using mrp run. they are using manual planned orders and from that they creating production orders.

During the production order creations, the material should be selected from only particular storage location.

Suggestion what u have said still holds good for the above senario too. pl. confim.

Hi,

There is a strategy how the system will find the issue str location.

First system will checks in the BOM. If you have not maintained str loc in the BOM system will go for below steps:

1. Strategy1: System checks production str location of Final product/ assembly in Material master MRP1 view. If not found,

2. Strategy2: System checks production version. System checks issue str location for final assembly. If not found system consider as receiving str location as a issue str location.

3. Strategy3: System check as per strategy 1, then strategy2.

4. Strategy4: System check as per strategy2, then strategy1.

for your second question I am not sure , but maybe in MMSC transaction you can use storage location MRP indicator 2 . This setting ensures that this storage location is not checked for stocks during MRP , but Iam not sure for manual production order. You have to try this & see.
