NAKISA 3.0 SP3 to 4.0 SP1

Hi Experts,

We are planning to upgrade Naksia 3.0 SP3 to 4.0 SP1.

We are following Stefan`s blog [ Part 3 ] http://scn.sap.com/community/erp/hcm/talent-visualization-by-nakisa/blog/2012/05/24/upgrading-visual...  and I have confusion in below line.

If you are changing service pack or product version then you first need to consider whether to import your existing (exported) configuration into the new version or re-implement your configuration changes into a copy of the standard configuration build for the new product.

I believe,

re-implement your configuration changes into a copy of the standard configuration build for the new product ---->

This means upgrade ABAP ADDON and  Transport package .Undeploy  3.0 SP3  ( except OrgChart ) and Install new one and redo the configuration e.g database connection settings, SAP connection settings etc.

Is this understanding correct?

Hi Stephen / Luke,

Thank a ton for the information.

We want to upgrade all 3.0 SP3 Nakisa components to 4.0 SP1. Although we have kept reconfiguration option open as  we don`t have much re-configuration to do.

But out of curiosity, I have one query.

Regarding upgrade to  4.0 SP1 from 3.0 SP3

Query :- What will happen to the configurations done for those components e.g  SuccessionPlanning  which are  renamed in 4.0 ? If somebody wants to have these configurations will those be adopted for renamed component .eg  TalentHub for HR & Executive?

Hi Tushar,

Architecturally and from a configuration standpoint STVN SuccessionPlanning is 90% the same as STVN TalentHub for HR & Executives. However, STVN TalentFramework no longer exists (it is part of STVN TalentHub for HR & Executives) and STVN SuccessionPlanning for Managers is not so similar to STVN TalentHub for Managers.

Your configuration will still work if you export it from STVN SuccessionPlanning and import it to STVN TalentHub for HR & Executives, bar making the minor changes around PresentationResources.xml etc. However, there are quite a few performance enhancements and it might be worth using the 4.0 configuration as your basis. Also, there is a performance enhancement pack available and this would require some 4.0 SP1 configuration files.

If you haven't done many configurations then I recommend the re-configuration approach.
