Hi All -

Client does multiple goods receipts for a process order and the requirement is to create multiple inspection lots one at order level and other at each goods receipt level.

Is there any way to generate inspection lot at order level and for every goods receipt for the same process order ?

Please advice..

In the control inspection lot field in the inspection type setup in the material master, set the value to:

1 - Each material document, material, batch and storage location.

Thanks for the response,

Can we have different inspection characteristics to examine at order level and at each goods receipt level ?

Thanks

Only if you are using DMR's at the characteristic level to create skip characteristics.

In that case, you put on all the characteristics that need to be tested over the life of the order. Then the DMR makes characteristics optional or required as you prcoess the inspection lots.

The problem usually lies in how to reset all characteristics to the initial level. Characteristics can also get out of sync due to failures. A failed charateristic usually causes the DMR to make the characteristic required on the next inspection. Then it might be "off schedule" with regards to other or similar characteristics. This can be somewhat mitigated by using dependent characteristics so a group of characteristics follow the same DMR.

It works best when you have a very rigid receipt process. I.e. you know for a given material, that you'll do X number of receipts over the life of the order and all the receipts are of the same size.

Could you please guide me through the steps for setting up DMR which will help in creating inspection lot at every goods receipt and at process order level with different characteristics.

For example, if there are A, B C, D and E are MIC then i would like to test A, B C at process order level and D and E at every goods receipt level

Many thanks!

We use Production orders instead of Proceee Orders, but accomplish same by setting up material master with two inspection types 03 for Header level and 04 for Goods Receipt/comfirmation. Make sure to set the 04 inspection type - control insp Lot field to the most granular / frequent level

Create DMR for your characteristic. I don't know how many skip stages you would have or how often you change orders. If you use a daily order for a material for instance, you could set the initial stage as inspect 1. Then a skip stage of 99 skips and a max. skip duration of 1 (day). It should than reset each day to the initial stage.

In the plan header, select DMR at the characteristic level.

Assign the DMR to characteristic A, B and C.

Assign no DMR to D & E. (I can't remember if it requires a DMR for every characteristic or not, you might have to create one with no skips).

Thanks for the response,

I tried using 03 inspection type, however this call for master recipe / routing but not inspection plan. So i believe there is a need to maintain inspection characteristics in routing / recipe instead of maintaining in inspection plan.

Is there a way that inspection type 03 picks inspection plan instead of master recipe ?
