Hi Suman,

Use T-Code MDBT to create a MRP variant also schedule the job.

Execute transaction "MDBT"

Click Variant Icon,

Set the parameters for MRP as required and save the variant.

Place the cursor on the newly created variant, and then click schedule.

Here you set the perodicity for the job run, and save.

Hope this would help,

Hi PrasobH

Thanks a lot for your reply. Some more doubts are there ,like how many variants we are going to create.For different materials how the MRP run will take place.

U can define the scope of planning transaction OM0E

Help -->

Scope of planning for MRP unit

Key with which you can combine a group of plants or MRP areas in a scope of planning.

Use

The plants or MRP areas that are combine in a scope of planning are planned together in a total planning run. This has the advantage that you no longer need to create a background job for each work individually.

Hence you dont need to create for individual materials...

U can even use the user exists to control the material selection.

Help -->

Control key for user exit material selection - planning run

If you want to control the selection of mateirals for the planning run using the prefefined SAP 'user exit', enter the key for the user exit in this field.

With this user exit, the total planning run of MRP, MPS or long-term planning can be limited to materials that fulfill certain predefined criteria (of your choice).

For example, you can define the following for each planning run:

only MRP materials are to be planned, or

only materials of a particular MRP controller are to be planned, or

only materials that are procured externally or that are produced in-house are to be planned

Dependencies

The user exit keys are defined in Customizing.

For more information on the user exit, please refer to the enhancement documentation, "M61X0001".

Lastly if you wish to do it for single material and single level..transaction is MD03

Hi Suman,

Let me know your business situation and the current practice of planning in legacy system, so that we can suggest.

You need to create "Scope of planning" if you want to combine multiple plants MRP run in a same variant.

If you want to run only plant wise then, you could setup as many variants as the MRP relevant plants.

If you would like to run MRP based on material selection, then you need to use userexit through which you would be able to identify and select material based on that. Ex. "MRP controller" all materials assigned to a MRP controller in a variant.

Hope this helps,,,
