MRP Live set up and testing

We are preparing to implement S4HC MRP Live.

Is the design of MRP Live such that set up and testing can be done in a Production environment, or does it only make sense to test it in a TEST environment?

The reason I ask is that a TEST environment obviously does not include the necessary data (master & transactional) for MRP to work.

My hope is that MRP can be run in a Production environment during set up and testing, and that the results of any test MRP runs, such as suggested orders, can simply be deleted rather than being converted to actual orders.

I would think that any S4HC customer planning to implement MRP would be in the same situation, so I hope that it has been designed with the idea in mind that MRP set up and testing would have to occur in a PRODUCTION environment.

Thank you for any information you can provide on this topic.

Hi Ralph,

If you execute MRP run in Production environment, system does create all subsequent documents planned orders / purchase requisitions / schedule lines / etc... depending on the situation. If you run it for one material structure, you can go through the entire BOM structure and identify the documents created by it and delete them. But if you have to do it for large materials, deletion task will be a very big one. It is always recommended to test MRP live in Quality environment so that you can find all the master data issues and correct them in Quality system and rerun MRP live after correction and validate the results. once you are satisfied with the results in quality system, you must perform similar changes to master data in production system before executing MRP live. SAP has plan to provide the functionality of transferring data from P to Q system and you could register for it as part of early adopter program. you can register to it via customer influence portal. SAP Provide Test Data for S/4 HANA Cloud. Customer participation will be confirmed upon review/approval of the project scope completed in the following online form.

Thank you very much, Bhanu!

Our TEST system is currently being used for a Fixed Assets migration project, but I definitely plan to apply to the "SAP Provide Test Data for S/4 HANA Cloud" Early Adopter Program ASAP.

Ralph

I applied for acceptance into the Early Adopter Program for the "SAP Provide Test Data for S/4 HANA Cloud" enhancement, however we were told that we "cannot be considered for the program at the moment due to technical restrictions."

That is what it is, however a coworker has asked if I know what "technical restrictions" means in this context.

I of course don't know, so I thought I would post here just in case anyone seeing this might have a clue.

If you know anything about it and can share your insight, thanks in advance.
