Missing line in ABNV (number range interval maintenance)

Hello everybody,

I stumpled upon a "missing" line in the Interval Maintenance: Asset Accounting, Subobject 2000 in transaction ABNV.

The table (which can also be looked-up in SE16N in table NRIV, Object FIAA_BELNR) looks similar to this:

NoYearFrom No.To NumberNR Status
120141999999999913265
12015199999999996633
12016199999999991720
22014199999999992746
22016199999999993823

As you can see, for Year 2015 and No 2, there is no interval defined.

Usually, this interval should automatically be created, when the asset fical year is changed with transaction AJRW. At the beginning of a new year the NR Status starts with 0.

I don't know why this line is not there.

Does anyone know, what the missing interval is for?

In what way is my SAP system affected by this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

EDIT: Meanwhile, I found SAP note 1843481. Before that patch, SAP doesn't seem to create the necessary number range intervals with the fiscal year change (AJRW / RAJAWE00). As we patched our system in 2015, it would explain the missing line a bit. But is it a problem, that there isn't such an interval?

Hi D.W.

The number ranges in ABNV are for document numbers in Asset accounting and it is internal that means SAP system will create these number ranges when first asset documents are posted in new fiscal year. These asset documents could be APC/depreciation etc.

The number ranges were automatically created after running AJRW at the beginning of 2016. The NR Status was 0 for the two new lines with Year 2016. After a while both status numbers were incremented.

My theory is the following:

- until 2014 the number ranges were set manually in our business though AJRW should do this automatically

- in 2015 this step was (partially) forgotten, AJRW had a bug (see SAP note 1843481) not taking care of the number ranges

- due to an system update in late 2015 the AJRW bug was fixed and all necessary number ranges were created automatically

This leaves one question: Will this missing intervall sooner or later cause problems or unexpected behaviour?

Hi,

Have you run depreciation for 2015? If yes, check the table TABA for the year for the co.code. In this table you can find which no.series system has taken.

Thanks Mukthar, this is interesting:

In TABA, the field "To document number" (last one of each year) compared to "Number range status" in NRIV looks like this:

Year (TABA/NRIV)last "To document number" (TABA)"Number range status" (NRIV)
201437463746
20154825-
201648224825

Isn't it a little scary, that the last "To document number" of 2015 is the same as the "Number range status" in 2016?

We run all depreciation in 2014 and 2015. In 2016 we have run up to periode 3, but we will have to repeat it.

Hi,

Yes, it is strange. Better raise a OSS.

Hi,

It is used for depreciation posting. When you run depreciation the system will store the internal document, that no will pick from this no.range.
