Migration Cockpit internal numbering

Hello all,

I am currently working on a migration project with the migration cockpit. What the customer has right now is internal numbering for all materials on a different system. What he needs is that we migrate the materials to S/4 with different internal numbering. I managed to find out that i can change the numbering from external to internal through the control parameters in the migration cockpit. Still it doesn't work out for me. Anyone has a clue how to fix this?

Hi Georgios

What do you mean by "migrate the materials to S/4 with different internal numbering"?
Do you want the system to pick new numbers (internal numbering) for the materials while migrating them?
What error do you get when you try to migrate the materials?
Best Regards,
Gitte.

I wanted the material to use internal numbering, i found out that after all it was a problem with MMNR, but figured it out. What i need though is a way in which the customer can insert the material number from their source system and the migration cockpit to make it internal. For example: if the customer has 2 materials, FG100 and SG100, with the migration i want the customer to fill a field in the template (ex legacy material number) with FG100 which will correspond to material 60000001 after the migration, and the same thing for the semifinished material. The customer will fill SG100 and after the migration with the internal numbering it will be 30000001 , etc.

Hi again,
Just fill in the old material number in the fields 'Product Number' field (PRODUCT) and in the 'Old Product Number' field (BISMT) in the load file. Choose internal numbering in the mapping part of the Migration Cockpit.
SAP will then choose new numbers for your materials when you migrate them into S4 and you will have a reference to the old material number in BISMT.
A prerequisite is of course that your material types in S4 allow internal numbering.
