Hello,
Where are willing to migrate from a SAP ECC to a SAP S/4HANA system and we are wondering if we could use for the migration process the migration cockpit direct transfer from sap tool.
We would like to know if it's convenient to use these migration cockpit option instead of the data staging tables as we have searched that with these option there's no need to fill a file with the information needed and if we could use it with every single data migration object including transactional data (sales orders, accounts payable, accounts receivable, g/l balance) and master data (cost centers, accounts, ...)
If so, is there any chance that the process could affect the data that is reading from the SAP ECC system, as we have seen that is recommended to read from non-productive systems?
Yes, you can use the approach Direct Transfer to migrate your data from a SAP ECC to a SAP S/4HANA system.
You use an RFC connection to connect the SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit to your source system. The SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit selects data from the source system by using specific criteria. For example if you are using the migration scenario SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA, then the SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit selects data using company codes (you specify the relevant company codes when creating a project).
Also, this approach don't influence any data in source system.
Please notice that if you are using the migration scenario SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA, the lowest supported ERP release is ERP 6.0 (SAP NetWeaver 7.0). The following help page is for your reference.
