Hi All,

When I create a material master I see certain valuation class in the accounting view. In certain material I see different options. Is it connected to the material group also? Or it depends only upon the material type.

Valuation class can be assigned to both Material type & Material group.

1. IMG<<MM<<Valuation & Acc determination<<Define Val class<< Assign to Acc category ref /Material type

2. IMG<<MM<<Purchasing<<Material master<<Entry aids for items without a material master (material group)

ya its connected with material group also.

It also depands on the material type. and Valution Class is also assigned to the a/c cat. ref.

check the relations . ... . T-Code OMS2.. select ur mat. Type....A/c Cat Ref. (EX - Mat Type ROH - a/c cat ref 0001)

SPRO - MM - Valuation & A/c assignment - -a/c determination - a/c determination w/o wizard - Define valuation Class -

here you can see ROH (3000) is assigned with A/c cat. Ref. and Mat Type assigned with a/c cat ref....

A/c cat referance is it groups the valuation class and determinates the g/l a/c.

Dear Singh,

Valuation class is linked to Material type through Account Category Reference.

Depends on the Material type, system proposes the valuation classes in Material Master creation.

There's no link of Material group to valuation class in Material Master.

However for text items (Materials w/o material code), you can maintain valuation class at Material group level in Customization for MMPurchasingMaterial Master-- entry Aids for items w/o material master.

If split valuation is active in your system, then Valuation category level also we can control valuation Classes in MMR.

Dear,

The valuation class has the following functions:

1) Allows the stock values of materials of the same material type to be posted to different G/L accounts.

2) Allows the stock values of materials of different material types to be posted to the same G/L account.

3) Determines together with other factors the G/L accounts updated for a valuation-relevant transaction (such as a goods movement).

Sandip
