Hi dear,

Material group - Key that you use to group together several materials or services with the same attributes, and to assign them to a particular material group

SPRO-LOGISTIC GENERAL-MATERIAL MASTER-SETTING FOR KEY FIELDS-DEFINE MATERIAL GROUPS

Direct T code OMSF

Material groups are used under different T codes for various purposes

1) Searching material in Material master - MM03

2) To get the stock of some specific items u2013 MB52

3) To know how many PO s are created for particular items u2013 ME2L,ME2M,ME2N

4) To know how many PR s are created for particular items u2013 ME5A

5) Display material list on the basis of material group u2013 MM60

Definition: material group hierarchy

IS Retail (IS-R)

Material groups can be grouped into hierarchies. Every material group can be assigned to one material group hierarchy level.

You can create as many hierarchy levels as you wish. The lowest material group hierarchy level in a material group hierarchy is always the material group to which the materials are directly assigned.

Example:

u2022 Material group hierarchy level 3: Non-food

u2022 Material group hierarchy level 2: Household goods

u2022 Material group hierarchy level 1: Small electrical appliances

u2022 Material group hierarchy level 0: Kitchen gadgets

there is no hierarchy for material groups.

The material group is just an identifier and its description and listed in alphabetical order
