Manufacture date from the creation date of the inspection lot

We are currently pulling the Manufactured on date from the creation date of the inspection lot. That doesn’t match the manufacturing date. My question is surrounding SAP standard practice. If this date does not match the actual manufacturing date, what date does SAP recommend? Should we try pulling from the batch record, since you can maintain a manufacturing date? I can change the fields in the COA from QALS-ERSTELDAT to MCHA-HSDAT. I just don’t know if that is the right way to handle it.

Shiv,

This depends upon the conventions adopted to recognize which date as the manufacturing date. Generally the posting date of the material docuemnt could be considered as the manuf date. The entry date of the mat doc could be today for a production which has happend yesterday. In which case the insp lot date will be today which is not correct.

So you can either go by posting date of the mat doc (if that is being follwed) or if the manuf date is maintained in batch then better to go for that.
