Launchpad search: How to extend search scope

Dear all,

how can I extend the scope of data fields considered by the launchpad search. E.g. if I want to search a product by the old product number this can only be done in the app Manage Product Master Data. I looked into the help file of the launchpad admin guide, but there is nothing mentioned how to extend the search scope.

I do not want to assign roles to use the Manage Product Master Data to every user, because this will also allow all users to modify product master data.

My users want to use the launchpad search in a Google - like full text search, but this does not work in standard setup.

I doubt the old material number can be used for the search, so maybe you would have to use a custom field for this purpose. But this is just my calculated guess. Based on the links I pasted above, you can test and fine it in your system if this helps.

Search Model enhancement is the solution, the required field for my search is the "Old Product Number". Once configured and transported into P-System it takes some time for the system to make the change visible, I assume a search index table will be created in the background for the new field.

The Fiori Launchpad full text search is based on Enterprise Search. I think a good starting point for your requirement is Creating or Enhancing Search Models.
