Knowledge Exchange B1 Production Module

Hi everyone,

we have been using SAP B1 for over a decade now but we only started using the Production module very recently and despite very valuable help by our SAP consultants, we are not super happy with the B1 production processes as they seem quite cumbersome.

Before investing time and money into possibly unnecessary add-ons, I thought it might be extremely valuable to see the Production module in action at another company which has gained more experience with it. Of course, this would not have to be a one-sided exchange as we are more than happy to share our knowledge regarding all other B1 modules.

Not 100% sure if this is the right place to ask this but: Is there anyone out there who is content with his/her B1 production processes and would be willing to share his/her practical experience with us?

Hello, first of all, we need to understand the size of your company, its location, its industrial sector and then the complexity of your production system.

Without knowing this data or having more knowledge, I doubt that anyone can even answer you.

With the small production module plus the MRP, you can complete a production system that does not require excessive complexity.

thank you so much for reply and please excuse my late reply due to me being on sick leave.

We are a company in Northern Germany, medical sector and the “complexity” of our production is as follows:

1. We purchase raw materials and send them to our 3rd party manufacturer
2. We basically tell the manufacturer which products he shall produce in which order and in what quantity and specifications
3. Manufacturer informs us of progress of production orders weekly – we track this in Excel and would like to track it within SAP instead
4. Manufacturer reports completion of production orders

The main issue is that it is a lot of manual work to create, update and finalize the various production orders.
