KKA0 Changing the Cut off period once it is saved in the Month end process

Hello Sapians,

User entered by mistake cut off period 5 (May) instead of 4 (April) for his month end activties. He saved it and realized he gave the wrong period and went back and changed that to 4 and saved it again which gave him a warning message

004.2011 falls before the old cutoff period 005.2011

Message no. KJ450

Between these change there is no WIP calulations are done. Then I went into the T-code and changed to 4 ignoring the warning message mentioned above.

Is it an issue if WIP has not run for any Production orders? There are some batch jobs which calculates new WIP for the Production Orders that kicks off in the mid night. So the WIP should be properly calculated, right?

Please give your inputs.

Thank you,

-Harter.

Hi

You can repeat your WIP cycle after changing the cut off period.. No issues

But, do you change it every month?? I have never changed the Cut off period in repetitive scenario, and it worked always

Few days back, there was a discussion in the forum, where in we had mixed responses.... I agree with those who never changed the cut off period

Hi Ajay,

The user changes Cut off period every month as a month end activity.

From SAP perspective, the reason why we have to change is to facilitate the order with which period to calculate and which period not to calculate the wip. This month(yesterday) as month end activity he changed to period 5 instead of 4 and the rest of the story.

May I know what are the reasons you agreed for not changing the Cutoff period? Could you please explain me with the scenario? In my case, do I have any issues because I changed it (you already said no issues but it confused me when you agreed for not changing the cut off period)?

Thank you,

-Harter.

Hi

I myself never changed the Cut Off period and I never faced any issues... I have been into both Discrete as well as periodic scenario using Cost Obj Hierarchy... But, I never changed the cut off period and it always calculated WIP properly

However, I was discussing with Sarada S Sil and other forum members - Sarada also dint change it but the other person changed it

Moreover, Please tell me if you are calculating WIP for MArch, then why you make it as 4 i.e. April??

And, where exactly did you see to change this cut off period, I mean who guided you to do this??

Lets reach to a conclusion this time... I will ask Sarada to join this discussion...
