Hi Parag

Please see this note : 855534 - Dual Stack and SAP Business Suite 7

As per the SAP recommendations , new Add in installations are not supported except for PI and Solution manager.

You will have to install a complete Java based system and then link the backend ABAP system as the UME.

Please see the below thread

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3178367

Hope it helps.

Thanks

Hi Rishi,

  Thanks for your help.

As per SAP note 855534 ,

As of SAP Business Suite 7, you can no longer install Dual Stack Application Systems (ABAP+Java).

Existing dual stack Application Systems are still supported.

However, new systems should be installed as separated ABAP and JAVA Systems

However , The SAP Business Suite 7 comprises:

EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0,

SAP CRM 7.0,

SAP SCM 7.0,

SAP PLM 7.0,

SAP SRM 7.0

My system have SAP ECC 6.0 ERP version.

It is not possible to install Java stack on separate server for my scenario.

Kindly help me.

Regards,
Parag.

Dear Expert,

I know that, It is not possible to install a java- stack to an existingABAP with the same SID.

I want to install java stack with different SID on same machine.

We want to install JAVA stack on the existing ABAP stack (ECC 6.0).

Before doing the same I want to know some things:-

1) It is possible to install java stack with different SID on same

machine.? Can we install java stack on ABAP stack through SAPinst?

2) If yes then which version of java (Netweaver) I will prefer to

installation?

3) Is there any known issue during these tasks?

4) Current DEV server have 8 GB Physical memory .

As per above memory structure how much amount we need to

increase in the current environment ?

We need to add memory in same mount points or need to create newmount points .

5) Is there installation guide available for this specific scenario? If

yes then Kindly share the link .

6) Which pre- requisites we need to do for this ?

7) How much It will affect the performance of the ABAP stack ?

😎 Other useful and mandatory things need to be done ?

Regards,

Parag.

Hi Expert,

Would you be so kind to tell me one more thing that

If I want to add more resource e.g memory then

where I need to add it in existing mount points or I need to create

separate mount points with new SID (Java Server SID ) ?

Require Mount points for Java installation as per my study.

Hello

1) It is possible to install java stack with different SID on same machine.? Can we install java stack on ABAP stack through SAPinst?

Yes. You can install a separate Java system and connect it to the ABAP stack.

2) If yes then which version of java (Netweaver) I will prefer to installation?

Use the same version of Netweaver.

3) Is there any known issue during these tasks?

During installation there can and it varies.

4) Current DEV server have 8 GB Physical memory. As per above memory structure how much amount we need to increase in the current environment ? We need to add memory in same mount points or need to create newmount points.

You don't add memory to mount points, instead you add space.

You need to add more memory to the machine as you are accommodating another instance on the machine.

5) Is there installation guide available for this specific scenario? If yes then Kindly share the link.

use this link and pick up the guide for Java stack.

http://service.sap.com/guidefinder

6) Which pre- requisites we need to do for this ?

Read the installation guide for AS Java

7) How much It will affect the performance of the ABAP stack ?

As long as the server is properly sized with enough memory and CPU available on the system then there shouldn't be much impact.

😎 Other useful and mandatory things need to be done ?

Read the installation guide.

//You don't add memory to mount points// - what do you mean ??

Hello Parag

My previous answers are based on your questions.

This is what you have asked.

You don't add memory to mount points// - what do you mean ??

Read the previous question from you especially the highlighted part. Mount points are used for file systems and you don't add memory to file systems. You only add space by extending the file systems.

As there is already an SAP system running on the server you need to first find out how much memory is used by the Oracle database and the ABAP system.

If you are going to install a dedicated server for the Java system then you need to consider memory for that as well.

For the Java system you need to consider how much you are going to assign for the Java heap for each server node.

As you want to install a separate Oracle database with the Java system then I would consider an additional 10 GB of memory on the machine.

Java systems work mainly with the real memory.
