Is it possible to manually create reservation in SAP S4 HANA Public Cloud?

Dear All,

This is for SAP S4 HANA Cloud. My requirement is to generate reservation after releasing service contract.

I saw there is config "Define life cycle status for reservation creation" but it doesn't allow me to create new config for service contract. So I htink it may not be possible to auto generate reservation when releasing service contract.

Then I tried to find whether we can manually create reservation in SAP S4 HANA Public Cloud. I found som link below that mentioned that there is no App to create reservation in S4 HANA Cloud but it was in 2021.

I am not sure at this moment 2023, there is a way to create reservation manually in cloud or not. Could you please advise?

If this is not possible, is there a way that I can set auto create reservation at time of releasing service contract?

first of all, let's look at the two different aspects of your question:

1) Creating a manual reservation in general in S/4HANA Cloud
-> This is possible using the app "Manage Manual Reservations" (Business role SAP_BR_INVENTORY_MANAGER)
-> Simply select an appropriate movement type (292 for example is a generic movement type that offers high flexibility to assign the reservation to a sales order, internal order or project WBS element)
-> However, service orders don't seem to be supported as a possible account assignment object for such manual reservations - only sales orders, production orders or maintenance orders.

2) The second part of your question involves the creation of a reservation from a released service contract
-> From a business process perspective, such a case is and should not be possible. In LoB Service, the Service Contract is only a contractual agreement between the service provider and the customer that describes which services will be offered and if any price agreements have been negotiated. The service contract itself is therefore nothing but a contractual object in the system. It is the service order that is the actual operational object that is created for the service execution - therefore, time and materials will be planned only in the service order (with an assignment to the contract), and reservations will subsequently be created for the materials required.

In conclusion, a service contract has and also should not have any influence on creating material reservations. However, if you want to create manual reservations in general (for usage in a project, Sales Order etc.), it is possible using the app shown above. Let me know if this helps!
