I am trying to understand the target application for the intercompany reconciliation going forward. Will the capabilities from live package reconciliation from SAP FC also be part of SAP Group Reporting? or is the target application for the intercompany reconciliation process to use ICMR going forward?

Similar to SAP FC, Group Reporting also includes intercompany reconciliation functionalities. It aims to ensure accurate and consistent financial data by automating the process of identifying and resolving discrepancies between intercompany transactions. The goal is to facilitate quicker and more accurate consolidation of financial statements.
Intercompany Matching and Reconciliation is a specialized solution within the SAP ecosystem, specifically designed for intercompany transactions. It is not a general financial consolidation tool but focuses solely on the process of intercompany reconciliation.
ICMR: Provides specialized and automated functionalities focusing on intercompany transactions, which might offer more nuanced and efficient reconciliation capabilities compared to the broader tools.
SAP Group Reporting and ICMR are tightly integrated with SAP S/4HANA, which enhances overall efficiency and real-time data processing.
If you need a comprehensive solution for all financial consolidation and reporting activities, SAP Group Reporting is likely the tool to go with.
If your primary concern is to handle and resolve intercompany transactions efficiently and accurately, using ICMR might be the best approach.
For companies already using SAP FC, transitioning to the newer tools (SAP Group Reporting and ICMR) can offer enhanced features and better integration with modern ERP systems like SAP S/4HANA.
I hope this breakdown helps clarify the differences and use cases of these tools! Let me know if you have more questions or need further details.
