Integrating PDF for Outbound Delivery

Hello,

we are looking for a way how to integrate PDF outputs for Outbound Deliveries to a 3rd party. I have not seen an API for this currently. There is the option to add EDI as an output channel for Outbound Delivery, but there is no scope item or documentation for this process.

Does anyone have any experience they could offer?

Thank you

Adela

Hi

Perhaps you could explain more of your requirement

The EDI is available for Advance Ship Notification (ASN).

Please check Sales Processing using Third-Party with Shipping Notification (BD3)

or Integration of Sales with External Buyers (2EL)

There is not an API or way to directly get the PDF for the delivery today.
However, if you can attach the PDF to the Outbound Delivery as an attachment, I believe the EDI can pick up the attachment and include it.
Another option would be to have the Cloud Print Manager pull down the PDF to a local or server storage and then another process could pick it up and send it (perhaps using Cloud Integration). The Delivery number is part of the filename, but this would be side by side extensibility scenario.
i hope this helps
Thank you

Hi Jerry,

wyould you happen to have more information regarding the Cloud Print Manager option? THat would seem like a good option for us. I am not aware how we could use CPM to store files on a server.

Thank you,

Adela

Hi Adela

Please see this famous blog by our colleague Mahesh

https://community.sap.com/t5/enterprise-resource-planning-blogs-by-sap/cloud-print-manager-for-pull-...

In the print queue setup you can choose to also save as a PDF file. (see the check box). I had a customer who created a "file listener" job to monitor the share where the PDF would be saved.

Perhaps you can do something similar with cloud integration (here is an example where they used it to get files from a S3 bucket https://community.sap.com/t5/technology-blogs-by-members/sap-cloud-integration-read-and-write-files-...)

You can see there are several file connectors: https://help.sap.com/docs/cloud-integration/a9df6e198daf40f49a8d59854fbe2f74/connectivity-options-an...

If none of those options work, you can also consider a side by side extensibility option using the SAP Forms by Adobe service in BTP. In that scenario, you would retrieve the delivery data via public api and use the data to generate the PDF yourself.

There is a sample on the extensibility explorer:

Thank you
