Hi I am new to sap.I like to know whether In an organizational unit is Client and company same.
Request clarification before answering.
Hi,
Client is the 3 digit number which denotes separate system landscape (like 100 for development, 500 for quality etc). Under client 100 I can create any number of "Company". A "Company" may have more than one "Company Code".
When we conduct training in client "800" we used to create many "Companies" to demonstrate to the trainees.
regards,
Bala

Hello Sir
If Tata is the company and Tata Motors and Tata Consultancy Service are the company code. Then client is also Tata. Am I correct?

Hi Manikandan,
Client and company code are two different objects and represented in a different way in an organization.
Client: The client is the highest hierarchical level in the SAP system. Several company codes can be maintained within a client.
Company code: Company code is SAP is the organizational unit which is the created in Finance (FI) module and the same is linked with the materials management module. A company which is a legal entity and statutory requirement is to maintain a separate balance sheet. Profit and loss statement is created and maintained at the company code level.
