hi to experts !

WHILE HIRING IN PA40 I AM GETTING ERROR ' PAYROLL MS IS LOCKED FOR MASTER DATA MAINTENANCE' WHAT'S THIS HOW I CAN REMOVE THIS ERROR . URGNT .

INITIALLY I DO SOME MANIPULATION BECOZ

PA40 TRANACTION NOT CREATING PERSONSL NO.

ERR0R : 06 DOES NOT EXIST THEN I

GO TO : TC- PA04 CHECK ASSINGEMENT .

GO TO TC- PE03 .TYPE NUMKR

CHECK ASSINGEMENT OF NO. RANGE .

AND REPLACE 06 TO 01 UNDER PERMANENT EMPLOYEE .

AS WE WANT NO RANGE TO START FROM 01 RANGE .

SAVE IT . IS MASTER DATA MAINTENANCE' RELATED TO PE03

PLZ GUIDE ME AS IM NEW IN HR .

Hi,

That means, the payroll status is not allowing the employee to hire or change the master data, it is standard, we can't change the master record during the payroll run. So, you can probably do the action after the Exit Payroll or Release for Correction. At this status only, the system will unlock the employees.

Hi,

If you get the error: Payroll MS is locked for master data maintenance, then you need to check the control record (t-code PA03). If the payroll status is in a release mode, you cannot hire an employee in PA40. You either need to change the status to "Release for correction" or "Exit" the payroll.
