Hows to update material group into contract, Doesn't work with MEMASSCONTRACT nor idoc

Hi,

We need to change material group into Contract. I have read blog that says to use MEMASSCONTRAT transaction however it doesn't work. It give a green light saying that changes on MATKL isn't possible. Is anyone knows how to change the material group. The problem is that material have been re-categorized and they have PO and Contract with these materials, so we need to modify the material group. The client knows they will loose some reporting data, but this is okay with them. The important is that we could use these new material group moving forward.

Hi Cynthia,

Assuming that your contract is related to materials.

For a material contract, material group comes from material master and is not editable (SAP standard behavior). Even though If we are trying to change at mass level, system checks for material master and Is not allowing to modify in Contract.

please verify in test system > change material master material group and try to modify material group in contract. If it works we can proceed with the activity. Otherwise need to go for new line item creation in contract.

It should be possible with the Mass-Transaction, so please verify (By using Trx."ANST" for "MEMASSCONTRACT") if you are missing SAP-KBAs in your System. If all else fails, revert to SAP Support ...
