How to staff a resource from another Service Org. but having no visibility to the projects under that Service Org ?

I posted this question on behalf of our customer.

Business context  :

There is a public customer project PJ1000  created under company code 1000, service organization 1000.
There is another public customer project PJ2000 created under company code 2000, service organization 2000.
Business requirement:
Only project PJ1000 is visible in Plan customer project.
When adding resource for PJ1000,  the resources from both delivery org.1000 and 2000 can be staffed.

How to achieve this business requirement ?
As restriction type CPD_MP_OR  (Service Organization) does not only affect the business users’ ability to display projects but also determines a business user's ability to staff resources from a service organization.  I think it is impossible to use this restriction type.

Thanks and regards,
Corey

Hi corey.yu ,

This is an interesting requirement, after all the functionality for public/private project is intended to address sensitive projects management. As you mentioned trying to address this via restriction type CPD_MP_OR is not really feasible.

One option that could be considered to handle staffing externally and custom build the requirements using the enhanced API as of CE 2008 for customer projects. This suggestion however is to be taken with a grain of salt as going with this approach means giving up staffing functionality within S4HC.

Hope this helps.

Hi vijay.gudipati ,

Thanks. This is public project. I think the customer does not want to set it to private project due to some limitations for private project.

Best regards,

Corey

Hi corey.yu , Did you try marking a Project as "Private"?. If the Project manager marks a project as Private, then the project is not visible to others in "plan customer projects".

Thanks,

Vikris
