Hello,
Many companies take part in cash pooling / cash sweeping / zero balance accounts, where each day at the end of the day the bank automatically moves the balances of accounts into another account for a variety of reasons (interest earning, security, etc.).
In S/4HANA Cloud Essentials the number of posting rules which are available are limited.
In practice each day the bank automatically makes postings to the accounts.
For example there are two accounts:
Account 1 is the ZBA account with an ending balance of $250
Account 2 is the Pooling Account.
At close of business the bank posts a cash movement to the accounts showing and out flow on the bank statement of Account 1 for $250, and posts a cash movement as an inflow on Account 2 for $250.
In an on-prem world there are two options for this, both with custom posting rules.
Option 1: Common clearing account
Account 1 - Posting Area 1 - Debit Tech, Credit Main Bank
Account 1 - Posting Area 2 - Debit Common ZBA Clearing Account, Credit. Tech.
Account 2 - Posting Area 1 - Debit Main Bank, Credit Tech
Account 2 - Posting Area 2 - Debit Tech, Credit. Common ZBA Clearing Account
Then run automatic clearing on Common ZBA Clearing Account.
Option 2: Post to other bank account
Account 1 - Posting Area 1 - Debit Tech, Credit Main Bank
Account 2 - Posting Area 1 - Debit Main Bank, Credit Tech
Account 2 - Posting Area 2 - Debit Tech, Credit. Account 1 Tech account.
Has someone developed a way to re-use the standard posting rules to accommodate such a scenario?
The closest I have thought of is using a single GL account for OTHERTRANSF or DIRECTDEBIT for all bank accounts, however since the posting type on the related transactions always has clearing (either 7 or 😎 then it doesn't work without manual intervention.
Hi Jmoss,
Is my understanding correct that you want to post automatically on a GL Account (ZBA Clearing Account)
You may explore bank statement reprocessing rules:
This should cover your requirements.

Thank you Joerg,
I was hoping there was a solution to process this scenario during initial posting of the EBS without requiring the Cash Application license for the automated reprocessing rules, but I will see what can be done with running the rules manually for now.
