How to link Old and New Account ID of same customer in SAP

Hi All,

Is it possible to link an existing SAP account to a new SAP account if it is for the same customer? We are having to create some new accounts as some of our SAP customer accounts have been recycled to be used for all agents that we work with. The issue is when we create a new account for the customer, we remove the agent ID which links the sap account with the agent ID however, when doing this, any sales posted in the old account cannot be identified.

We need a way to link both the old account and the new accounts together so we can monitor and keep track of all sales made on the old account and link this to the new account?

Or the other option will be if we can transfer the sales over to the new account?

Your help with this is much appreciated.

1) Please be aware that if you post an answer to your own question then the question will be considered "answered" and those SCN members who are looking for unanswered questions using "unanswered questions" filter will no longer see it. (This issue is mentioned here, please feel free to chime in.) If you'd like to post an update, which is not an answer to the question, then just use Comment button under the question.

2) To clarify, moderator's job is not to answer questions but just to ensure that no rules are violated and to close or move questions if they happened to be posted in a wrong place or format. If you are not getting replies this could be caused by the question not being clear. See p. 3 on this.

3) Obvious answer would be to use KNB1-ALTKN field. It's meant to store the previous account number (e.g. from a legacy system or a previous SAP account if it has to be changed). This field can be used in search and appears in some transactions. So the big question here is: as far as "link" goes, what did you envision exactly? What is the specific expectation of functionality? As far as "transfer sales", I'm sure AR can transfer balance from one account to another but this won't update any sales information. The follow-up question here would be: what exactly do you mean by "sales", how would you envision the "transfer" and what exactly would be the purpose? E.g. if you just want to see some reports in SAP then it's one thing, if you calculate discounts based on previous purchases then it's another.

It's also not clear what exactly is "agent ID" and what does this have to do with SAP account number.

Please provide more details and better explanation of the expected functionality, then the SCN members might be able to suggest a solution.
