How to calculate Key Figure - Number of actual machine breakdowns

I need to understand how SAP calculates Key Figure "Number of actual machine breakdowns (MCI7; MCJC; MCJB)" .

I understand this key figure considers "Time Overlaps" between breakdowns & is being used for calculation of "MTBR"

The other key figure that records exact nos of breakdowns is "Number of machine breakdowns reported (MCI4)"

Please share your thought on following queries:

1. A. BD1 : MF Start 09.00Hrs / MF End 12.00Hrs

BD2 : MF Start 09.30 Hrs / MF End 10.30 Hrs

Number of machine breakdowns reported = 2

Number of actual machine breakdowns (or effective breakdowns) = ?

1. B. BD1 : MF Start 09.00Hrs / MF End 12.00Hrs

BD2 : MF Start 11.00 Hrs / MF End 14.00 Hrs
