how to block material group

Let me know if it's possible to block material group only not the whole material?

Ya you can't delete material group, you can change the description as "Deleted" and in F4(drop down list) of all material groups you can create fav list without this material group. But this is user specific.

As Suggested , Material groups can either be deleted or its description can be changed.

In case of service type PO , these material groups helps you to determine G/L whereas for Valuated materials these material groups are used for reporting purposes.

Now in case you want to change a material group of an existing material then you can change it in material master or if you have created a material group by mistake then make sure that it is not used in any PO/ Material and then delete the material group.

The treatment depends upon the type of problem you are facing.

Do avoid changing material group description unless you are sure that this material group has not been used in any material/PO.

This will maintain consistency in the system.

In Standard SAP, there is no option for Block Material Group, your can either Delete it or change the description of Material group (Don't Use) as suggested by other guru also, through TCode OMSF.

Hi, There is no option to Block Material Group, other option you can try is to change the description of Material group like(do not use), Use T-code for Material Group OMSF.
