Hi,

I'm sorry if this post is in the wrong forum but I'm not sure which one it should be in!

For house banks, could someone deescribe why a house bank would not have a GL account configured but a discount account instead?

Thanks

CT.

A li'l bit of caution in use of appropriate terminology. House Bank itself will not have GL a/c. assignment. It is just a name with which you call the bank in SAP - you create House Bank master data in SAP with a bank country and bank key attached to it. Under House Bank, you create Bank Accounts. These Bank Accounts can be assigned to GL a/c. AND discount a/c.

GL A/c.

General Ledger Account

This field contains the number of the G/L account to which the transaction figures are updated.

Discount A/c.

Subaccount for bill of exchange presentation for discounting

Credit memos resulting from discounting bills of exchange at this house bank account are posted to this account.

Hi,

House Bank is the name of the Bank in which you are going to open the account ID (in general account).

Know the Path,

CREATION OF HOUSE BANKS AND ASSIGNMENTS OF GL ACCOUNT (FI12)

Bank Accounting Financial Accounting SPRO  Select New Entries  Enter Company code  Define House Banks  Bank Accounts  Enter House bank as SBI and Bank Country = IN and Bank Key = 12345678 and Select Select BankCreate button and enter Details and select Continue and Save Enter Account ID and Description , Bank account Select New Entries Accounts number and Currency Enter GL Account and Save.

So all the details of the GL account and the account assignment is in Account ID only.

Because you can have any no of Account IDs in the same bank and to update the Balance sheet you need to update the GL's, when a transaction is done corresponding Gl has to be updated so Gl are created in the Bank Account ID's only.

Any more info.

Thanks.

House banks are attached to the GL Accounts (Usually Balance sheet accounts). Specify the GL account on the houser bank config FI12 or FBZP. This GL account reconciles with the bank statement. When you are paying to the vendors the payment program uses this account for the payments and the corresponding FI documents refer to this GL account. When you are collecting from Customers then the collection amount will be debited to this account.
