Hello,

I am curious to see if anyone has successfully installed S/4 on prem 1511 SR1  from scratch using SWPM SP17 .

• SUSE Linux 11 SP3
• HANA DB is installed and running
• Installation of Application Server gets stopped at ABAP import.  I have upgraded the kernel and downloaded the installation exports.

Can you also paste indexserver log from HANA ? It looks like the issue is coming from database. You might need to change the extension to *.txt to be able to attach the file.

How much memory you have available on the HANA instance?

Hello.

Where are these logs stored?  I cannot find them in tmp/sapinst_instdir/s4hanaonprem1511sr1/core/hdb/install/std/abap.

We are installing both the HDB and the application on the same host.  The host is on a VMware VM.  In total we have allocated 28 Gb memory for the host.  During the installation of HDB we allocated 23 Gb of memory to HDB.  This was a minimum requirement during the installation of HDB.

Traces and logs are written to:

/usr/sap/<SID>/HDB<system number>/<hostname>/trace

But I think I know what is the root cause.

RC 1000002 error, which can be found in provided logs, is usually connected to HANA memory.  You probably get Out Of Memory or Allocation Failed issues and this is why installation fails. I asked you to paste HANA logs, as this would give the proof.

Anyway I think the chances that you can install S/4HANA on 23 GB of memory are minimal Try to upgrade it to at least 64 GB - then you might have a chance.

Just for more details my final installation is using 135 Gb of RAM.  This is SUSE Linux 11 SP3 with only the default items selected during installation of HANA and S4 Application Server on the same instance.
