group no and grc no in routing

Hi, if we create routing for different materials with the same group no as well as with same group counter, will there be any problems. what is the importance of these 2 fields. thanking you.

Dear ,

I would rather say that you can create same group number for two differenet material .But Multiple group counter can be generted through singel group numbers which is a system generted sequence with a combination of operation and BOM.

Importance :

1.A material can have different Alternative BOM but same routing .In that case we can differentiate through group counter number to pick the BOM alternative in same routing ( same operation sequence)

2.A materail can be produced through various routing ( differentiated through group counter number and routing number ) , in that case you can utilise the routing based on the operation sequence and counter number .

Hi,

You can assign any no of material to the same group and group counter, if the materials require the same routing which you have created earlier, this will not effect any thing, the importance of group counter is when ever you want to create more than one routing for the same material the system generates it with different or a new counter, and when ever the system checks for the concerned routing of the material it checks the no of routing available for that material on the basis of the group and the group counter.

Hi Raju garu,

For two different materials , we can create a routing with same group. No issues.

But regarding group counter, it is given by system. You cannot have the group no. of your choice. So group & group counter combination become unique,
