Formatted earch Help

Good Evening

Experts:

Shopping for a bit of help with a Formatted search dilemna. I have a screen with Order# and Line#. After entering an Order# and Line# I then tab out of the Line#

field. If the Order# is valid then I check to make sure the Line# is valid for that Order#. If the Line# is not valid, I want to display a formatted search in the Line# field for all of the lines valid for the Order.

However, I cannot figure out how to reference the Order# field from the Formatted search that is displayed in the Line# field.

How can I do this?

Thanks,

Ed

On a system form, say the order entry form, if I want to access the order# (docnum) of the order currently on the form in a formatted search I would

write "select $[ordr.docnum] from...."

I don't know if this will work if you have your own form or have a UDT but you could try "select $[@yourtablename.yourfieldname] and see what happens.

BTW - neither of these will work via the execute button while writing the FS. You'll have to assign the fs to the field and run it like the user would to test.

Hopefully this is what you are asking about.

Thanks...not exactly what I am doing but your response pointed me in the direction I needed to go to solve the problem.

Thanks,
