Flagging a stock for special usage

My business process requires me to keep from time to time, when needed, a portion of the stock (a specific batch or even a certain quantity of a specific batch) for specific usage. For example, to consum it for a dedicated production line or for keeping the goods in order to sell them to a different site.

I would like to find some solution to mark this stock in such a way that does not include a transfer to a different storage location (as this stock usually doesn't move physically), but rather something similar to flagging it like a consignment stock which allows me to move it around the warehouse and consume it, but still is visible for the user as special stock.

Please advise your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

Elad.

Hello ecypismeir

ecypismeirIf your materials are batch managed, then I'd suggest using batch status and moving reserved stock to restricted use status. If you need to reserve only a portion of a batch, then you can create a new batch and restrict its usage. Anyway, if a batch is partially reserved, it is not uniform anymore.

If you don't like it, then I'd suggest a dedicated storage location.

Hello ecypismeir,

You can implement Make to Order strategy for your scenario. In this case stock will automatically tagged with that sale order/line item# and as and when you require to consume or sell it will be consume or sell only for the tagged sale order.

To implement this strategy connect with your SD/PP Consultant.

OR

As a workaround, you can block the particular batch/stock in transaction MSC2N and as and when you require this stock, you can unblock it.

Hope it's clarifies your query.
