Hi,
We have a customer that needs to implement only FICA for Receivables, but We do not know if FICA has to be activated as part of an Industry Solution, which might probably have a cost.
My question is because of note 884566 and some blogs that state that FICA can not be activated without the activation of an Industry solution.
Could you please help?
Thank You.
Hi Elizabeth,
To answer your question, FICA/FICAx is a subledger specific accounting model that is used mostly in several industrial solutions due to huge volume of transaction records. This model takes care customer financing (which is unlike corporate/back office financing of FI).
At a glance this is a contract accounting model. So each customer (which are named as "business partner") in FICA, has a contract account where financial transactions are posted. Each financial transactions has Main and Sub transaction that collectively derives the balance sheet and profit/loss GL entries.
After posting, the FICA document amount creates FI-GL document to post rspective entries in GL accounts.
Since each customer has their own financial transactions, you can carry out different business transaction on them. For instance, dunning and collection process for receivables, outgoing payment process for payables etc.
To start with you can refer below link from SAP.
Hope it helps. Let me know how you go.
Thanks

Hi Elizabeth,
No, FICA can't be used without activating any industry based solution.
