Few Doubts in Configuring OM

HI Experts,

First of all let me thank you all for helping and guiding me. I have started with HR and working on OM now.

While doing OM i got some doubts. First is I am maintaining the relations as below

Org. Unit --> Position --> User. Am i on the rite track.

Second : what does delimit mean?

Third : While defining position i have something called Staff flag?

what purpose does that flag serve?

Forth : Defining someone as head of department for a org. unit and then defining other positions in that org. unit as staff. will that define reporting automatically??

Fifth : What does a staffing status define??

Note : I am configuring the org. Structure in simple maintenance mode.

Correct administation would be:

Organization Unit -

> Person ---> User

Second : what does delimit mean?

Delimit means "ending" the validity period.

There was a recent thread on delimiting in SDN. Just use Search function.

what purpose does that flag serve?

None, besides usefull for reporting and a slightly different display in graphic view.

Forth : Defining someone as head of department for a org. unit and then defining other positions in that org. unit as staff. will that define reporting automatically??

Hi All,

Thanks for your expert help.

I guess I am done with OM now. Correct me if i am wrong or let me know if anything is left behind?

Now how should i proceed with HR configuration? What i need to do first?

Shall i do the intergration between OM & PA? Do i need to create personnel area & Personnel Subarea now?? how to start configuring PA?

How to use LSMW to configure PA?

for this u need to set ur Enterprise Structure , Persoanl Structure , Pay Scale Structure

than only u can integrate with OM and can go further

Can you guide me how can i configure Enterprise Structure, personnel structure?? What are the tcodes & what are the steps?? How can i achieve it?

u need to go through the IMG PATH

first create ur company

Personnel Area

Personnel Sub Area

Employee Group

Employee Sub Group

and assign PA to Comapny code

land EG to ESG

and activate the feature NUMKR thru Tcode PE03 u define number ranges in PA04

and dont forget to assign the attributes

for personnel actions try this .

Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

Menu System -> services -> table maintenance ->extended table maintenance T588C

Transaction Code SM30

For Enterprise structure and personnel structure, you will have to go to

SPRO, click on SAP ref IMG. There you will find a node, enterprise structure --> Definitions --> Human Resources --> Create PA, PSA, EG and ESG. Read the documents provided to give you a clearer picture.

Then go to enterprise structure --> Assignments --> Human Resources and assign PA to Company Code (FI has to create this code for you, if you are only doing a testing take any Indian company code and assign the same). Then assigne each ESG to EG and give the country grouping you want. If its India, select 40.

Since you have created the OM structure, you will now have to create the Enterprise structure and the Personnel Structure.

You have to create PA, PSA assign the PA to a company code.

Create EG, ESG and assign EG to ESG.

Then you will have to create the Personal data (the config of which you can do under PM--> PA --> Personal Data.

You will have to create actions and actions menu and the infogroups. (the config of which you can do under PM --> PA --> Customising procedure --> infotype menu (for infogroups) and Actions.

These are some of the basic steps becaz if you want to hire a person and if he has to be visible in the system, the IT 0000,0001 and 0002 has to mainitained for each employee.

Now it is org Unit --> Job --> Position --> User.

is it correct now?

What to do next?

How to define the reporting structure???
