Does any validation framework exist for Maintenance Order Master Data

Does any Validation framework exist for Maintenance Order Master Data? We have experienced issues with users amending data after creation to update the cost center on the account assignment block of Work Order/Settlement Receiver, but not making the same update to the Responsible Cost Center, from which the Profit Center of the Order is derived.

This is causing some occasional master data integrity issues - a simple validation rule to check that the assigned Profit Center on the account assignment cost center is equal to the assigned profit center of the responsible cost center would close this loophole/risk.

Hello scottjs.

How are you? The Maintenance Order considers the Cost Center associated to the Maintenance Work Order assigned to the Maintenance Order, directly, or through a Maintenance Task List. This is the only validation performed related to the Cost Center.

Regards.

Hi Scott,

Please find this link for the extensibility options available for Maintenance orders in S4 HANA Cloud.

Hi Juliano. Thanks for the response. I was hoping there may be a validation framework available (either in config or BADI) to put some control in place. Our issue is with integration to JVA. In our setup, Maintenance orders are being created via interface integration from external CMMS system - JVA attributes on a Work Order (Yellow shaded fields in Joint Venture Accounting block in screenshot) are derived from the Cost Centre maintained in the Account Assignment block (also highlighted yellow).

However, Profit Center of the Work Order is being derived from the Responsible Cost Center - what we've found is users having the ability to amend the account assignment Cost Centre (rather than updating the source WO in CMMS system which would interface to S/4) when informed of coding error from Operations teams (and this in turn is updating the JVA attributes to correct JV), but because the users aren't updating Responsible Cost Centre, the Profit Center is still 'incorrect' (i.e. in line with the initial erroneous account assignment cost centre). Ultimately, this isn't being picked up until JV Cutback being run (and Profit Center splitting error appears), then the Profit Center can no longer be updated, since there are postings made against the WO.

It is most definitely a user education issue rather than a system issue, but I was hoping that some kind of validation could be placed into the mix whereby if anyone tries to manually update the account assignment cost center (in yellow), we could validate that the profit center assigned to this is equal to the profit center of the responsible cost center (in green).
