Document splitting after universal journal

I have a client who is looking at a system conversion

They don't have the new GL activated, and therefore no document splitting

they want to move to S4 - and use the universal journal.

If they moved to the universal journal - could they activate document splitting after this?

What restrictions would there be? - historical data not being converted etc.

Thanks

Hi Mark

I believe the subsequent activation of document splitting after S/4 HANA Finance conversion is not yet supported. So ideally if as of today the client wants to use document splitting in a S/4 HANA Finance environment, the first step would be to migrate from Classical GL to New GL Environment with Document Splitting. There after, the conversion to S/4 HANA Finance can be done.

Subsequent activation of New GL with Document Splitting after S/4 HANA Finance conversion is technically not supported currently.

Thanks & Regards

OK - but to move to Document splitting you need to do this at year end, and then do the migration to the universal journal?

I presume you cant do this in the same fiscal year within a system conversion and not a clean install

Hi Mark

You are correct that you have to wait till year end for document splitting and than do the migration to universal journal

Hi Mark, Moving to document splitting you have to wait till year-end and then moving to S4 HANA can be done at any period end. Rgds Murali. N

OK - the customer wants to go the other way - so universal journal (go live with 1511) and then activate document splitting later.

From what I have seen - it is not currently possible - and SAP are looking at a process for this.

Hopefully we may get solution for that in 1602.
