Dear all,

When investigating the flow with Digital Payments Add-On see below:

I still have a question about the first step (AR Credit Card Clearing):

  1. Why is this posting needed? To set this customer item as 'cleared'?
  2. What triggers this posting?
  3. How can we make sure that these contain all the credit card tokens & authorization data?
  4. Which info is taken from the Digital Advice so we can match the batched AR Items with the Digital Advice and with the Bank Statements?

Hello Vanessa

The credit card payment via SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Customer Payments (CCP) is handled as a 2-step process (authorization, capture) in the S/4HANA solution. As CCP is using the processing logic of the "old" Biller Direct solution, the separation of authorization step and payment posting exists. Therefore the process consists of

  • Collection and Authorization of open items in CCP. Blocking of the open items in S/4HANA.
  • Posting of the resulting Incoming Payment (including clearing of the oene items)
  • Capture of the authorization using the Payment Card Settlement
  • Digital Advice - Posting of the confirmed Capture including clearing and automatic processing of charges.
  • Payout of the Payment Service Provider - Bank Statement Processing of the normal House Bank

Concerning your questions:

  1. The posting is the "Incoming Payment" and is required to document that the Customer has no liability (by the permission to collect the amount via credit card and an successful authorization)
  2. The posting is triggered by the automatic payment (payment run). Normally this will be scheduled periodically by the SAP customer
  3. The CCP solution provides the status of the processing and posting. This should be documented in the SAP help of SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Customer Payments
  4. The posting performed by the Digital Advice is aggregated on the level of Settlement Run (e.g. daily) and reflects the sum that the PSP will payout. Therefore the payout (lumpsum) via the bank account and the aggregated posting by the Digital Advice will fit on the this basis (e.g. minimal number of items). The clearing of this account is most probably manually. Please check also the S/4HANA Documentation .
