Difference between R/3, mySAP ERP, SAP ERP 2004..

Hi guys,

I'd like to know, what's the difference between R/3, mySAP ERP, SAP ERP 2004 (or other terms). Sometimes I see R/3, sometimes ERP... I'm a little bit confused.

Hi Peter...

In my expirience, R/3 is SAP ABAP platform, mySAP ERP is a suite involving some of SAP modules (HR, SCM, FIN, PLM, CRM), SAP Netweaver 2004 involves ABAP and JAVA platform and several other integration layers

Hi guru,

R3 is a product of SAP runs on ABAP stack.

my sap is the term on same contract. ex. my sap erp 2005 includes crm 2005, scm 2005 etc.

SAP ERP system first came out with a version SAP on DB2/Mainframe that was SAP R/2. Later a client server version was developed i.e SAP R/3 basically on windows platform with RDBMS database like Oracle as backend(it can be any RDBMS). There were functional+technical improvements carried out with various versions of SAP R/3 and the current version is 4.7 Enterprise.

mySAP is basically a web frontend with SAP R/3 as backend.

For ERP2005, If you want to run you ERP transaction using web browser, do you need to write webdynpro code to do that.

SAP R/3 is package which is available in different versions 3.1i,4.6c,4.7. mySAP ERP 2004 i.e. ECC 5.0 and mySAP ERP 2005 i.e. ECC 6.0 are advanced versions of SAP R/3.
