AR,

Either M1 or User defined notification types. There are no hard rules for these.

AR,

As Narasimhan said, there are no hard rules, and SAP does not stop.

It is we, who decide and follow some convnetion/rules as per the basic definitions of the Notification types.

In our scenerio:

M2 and M3 are mostly used.

-M2 is for unplanned/ breakdown jobs

-M3 is for scheduled (plans) or unscheduled preventive jobs.

Our convention for M1 is- whenever one agency gives a maintenaence call to another agnecy (work center).

For e.g. Operation people calling Maintenance. (Practically in our set-up these notiifcations yet to take-off)

In another example, I have configured a customised notification type AC to handle the unsheduled Annual Preventive jobs of one department which maitains huge number of Industrial Airconditioning and Ventilations systems.

Hope this helps your decision making.
